Car Key Experts who come to you anywhere on Oʻahu, 24 hours a day.
A key fob is small, but when it fails it can leave you stuck. It might be lost at the beach, cracked in a parking lot, or just not responding when you press the button. Double Quick Locksmith is a family-owned mobile locksmith that has served Honolulu since 2021, and car keys are our specialty. We have trucks around the island, so a technician can drive to wherever your car is parked and replace and program your fob right there, at any hour of the day or night.
📞 Fob lost, broken or not responding? Call (808) 758-4599. We’re open 24/7 and serve all of Oʻahu.
Key fob problems we help with
Not every fob problem needs a brand-new fob. When you call, we’ll ask a few questions to work out what’s really going on, then recommend the simplest fix that will get you back on the road.
Lost key fob replacement, even with no key left
Lost your only fob? We can make a new key for any make and model on the market, even if you have no working key at all. We come to your vehicle and supply and program a new fob so the car recognizes it. If the old fob might have been stolen rather than misplaced, we can also erase it from the car’s memory. That way it can no longer unlock or start your vehicle.
Broken key fob shell or case
Cracked cases, a snapped key-ring loop, worn rubber buttons and a flip blade that won’t stay open are everyday wear and tear. If the electronics inside still work, you may not need a new fob at all. We can re-shell it by moving your original electronics into a fresh case. Curious what that involves? Our guide on
how to change a broken or damaged key fob walks through it.
Key fob battery and “key not detected” problems
A weak coin-cell battery is the most common reason a fob suddenly loses range or stops working. Try a fresh battery first, because it’s often all you need. If the fob still won’t lock, unlock or start the car after a new battery, we’ll diagnose whether the problem is in the fob or in the vehicle. Then we’ll fix the right thing, whether that means reprogramming, repairing or replacing the fob. For more simple checks, see
key fob not working? What to do before calling a locksmith.
Water-damaged fobs
Saltwater, a dip in the pool or a fob left in a board-short pocket can all stop the electronics working. Dry it off, take the battery out and don’t keep pressing the buttons. Then give us a call. We’ll check whether it can be saved and replace it if it can’t.
Spare and duplicate fobs
The cheapest time to get a spare is before you need it. Adding a second fob while your first one still works is usually quicker and easier than starting from scratch after the last key is lost. We program spare and duplicate fobs on the spot.
Key fob programming done on-site
Today’s fobs talk to your car electronically, so cutting a blade isn’t enough. The fob has to be paired with the vehicle before it will unlock the doors or start the engine. We do all the programming at your car, so you don’t need to visit a dealership. That covers:
- Remote-head keys and flip keys, which have the lock and unlock buttons built into the key
- Transponder (chip) keys, which the immobilizer has to recognize before the engine will run
- Smart keys and proximity fobs for push-to-start vehicles
- Remote-start fobs, so you can start the car from a distance
